WELLS - Robert A. "Red" Seidl, 85, of 5679 1st Ave. N., Wells, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba with his family by his side.
Robert was born April 29, 1927, in Escanaba, son of Tony and Mazella (Weidman) Seidl. He lived all his life in Escanaba and Wells. He attended St. Anne's grade school and he graduated from Escanaba High School in 1945, and then entered the U.S. Army. He served as a sergeant with the 388th Station Hospital as a pharmacist assistant in Giessen, Germany, and was a life long member of the Escanaba VFW.
He returned to Escanaba and worked for Chatfield Machine Company working as an accountant and sales person for 42 years.

Bob married the former Margaret Peterson on Sept. 13, 1952, at St. Joe's Church in Escanaba. Bob and Margaret would have celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this year. He was an avid hunter who hunted out of his camp at Boney Falls, but his real love was going to the cottage at Ostrander Lake being with family. Bob was an excellent father and grandfather who loved his family very much. Along with having a great sense of humor, Bob was a very kind, patient, and easy-going person.
Bob is remembered by his wife Margaret of 59 years; his daughter, Lori (Joe) Hughes; his pride and joy grandchildren, Staci Bovin (Chicago) and Brittani Bovin (Grand Rapids); and last but not least, his Yorkie-friend Kota. Bob is also remembered by his nieces: Patty (Keith) Jacobsen, Gladstone; Cindy Papen, Oregon; Mary (Al) Ek, Las Vegas; nephews: Mike (Karen) Corbett, Appleton; Gary (Karla) Corbett, Wisconsin; Tim (Karen) Corbett, Escanaba; Don (Donna) Corbett, Escanaba; cousins, Sherri (Bill) Schultz, Escanaba; Merri Seidl, Florida; Jack (Corrine) Wigand, Gladstone.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Rob Seidl, and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mary and Ike Corbett.
Visitation will take place from 2:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the Skradski Family Funeral Home, Escanaba. Military honors presented by the Delta County Veterans Council will be held at 4:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Rick Courier and Rev. Fr. Emmett M. Norden officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Thomas Parish Hall.
