Helen S. Roshak

BARK RIVER - Helen S. Roshak, 100, N18681 Roshak Ln, Bark River, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 1, 2012, at Christian Park Health Care Center.

She was born on Oct. 21, 1911, in LaBranche, daughter of Andrew and Anna (Krause) Gaber.

At the age of 15, Helen moved to Chicago to work for a few years, but then returned to LaBranche.

On Nov. 29, 1934, Helen married Charles Roshak at St. Michael's Church in Perronville. He preceded her in death.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, being outdoors and feeding the animals, and baking apple and lemon pies. Helen loved having her grandchildren spend time with them during the summer.

Among survivors include her son, Robert (Sharon) of Marquette; grandchildren, Scott (Sandra) Roshak of Appleton, Connie (Barth) Fassbender of Brookfield, Wis., and Lisa Roshak of Marquette; three great-grandchildren, Kyle and Lauren Fassbender and Bennett Meinke; brother, Frank Gaber of LaBranche and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Charles, Helen was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Ann; son, Frank; daughter-in-law, Penny; sisters, Ann and Julia; and brothers, Joseph, Stanley, Tony, and Walter.

Visitation will be on Friday, Aug. 3, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Chapel in Bark River. Parish prayers will be at 6:30 p.m.

Visitation will also continue on Saturday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. with at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church with Rev. Emmett Norden and Rev. Darryl Pepin concelebrating.

A meal will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in St. Michael's Cemetery in Perronville.

The family would like to thank the staff at Christian Park Health Care Center for their loving and professional care and generosity over the past 3 1/2 years as they cared for Helen.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Roshak family.
