ESCANABA - Sometimes I feel like a broken record - the Bonifas Arts Center needs your support. We depend on your generous charitable contributions to keep our doors open and programs running. You hear this often from me and it is true, with an annual budget of $320,000 I start over each July needing to figure out how to raise the money needed for the next year.
And yet, look at what we have and what we're able to do with that support. Each fall brings a new listing of exciting classes, truly something for everyone and as the year progresses we bring in exhibits that are interesting, educational and showcase Upper Peninsula and regional artists. Special events like the cabarets, beer and food pairing, dinner theater and annual auction provide an opportunity to get out and have a good time.
Our youth programming is exceptional. It challenges kids in wonderful creative ways to look at their world with the eyes of a thoughtful, problem solving, creative being; and have fun doing it.
We have an incredible facility and are able to house Players de Noc and their annual production season. Lately, through the generosity of a wonderful benefactor, we've been able to make many needed upgrades to the building and grounds, insuring that the Arts Center will be around for a long time.
Knowing that it takes a great deal of time, talent and treasure to keep this place open, and working I work hard at creating a sustaining financial picture for us.
While we are always a "day late and a dollar short" it is even more important to know that there is another side. The Bonifas Arts Center might be pretty broke during the year, and our cash flow may ebb and wane, but we have no real debt. We are blessed that we don't have a big mortgage or need a line of credit to keep us open, like so many other arts organizations. We have a community that supports us every day through memberships, sponsorships and charitable contributions. That is amazing. This means that the Bonfias Arts is a financially healthy organization with a long and bright future.
That doesn't mean we will stop asking for your help. In fact it means we will continue to ask for your help so we can continue our programming, keep our doors open and welcome you when you stop in to see you dollars at work.
Please make your contribution to the Bonifas Arts Center today. Your generous support is appreciated.
Thank You for that support.
