ESCANABA - The Delta Lodge 195 of Free and Accepted Masons recently created a $500 community service scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior in Delta County. The Masons recently created this scholarship as a way to assist students and give back to the community. The award was presented to Kyle Barron, a graduating senior from Escanaba Area Public High School.

"The scholarship is based solely on the students community service record," said Christopher Germain, senior deacon of Delta Lodge 195. "We expect Masons to live up to our 'legacy of giving' which is where this idea game from. We can give back to a student that shares our ideals. We had a lot of great candidates this year but ultimately ended up picking Mr. Barron as the front runner."

The scholarship is made possible by Delta Lodge 195 in conjunction with the Michigan Masonic Charitable Foundation.
