Jose R. Rosado

GLADSTONE - Jose R. Rosado, 61, of 9204 Highway M-35, Gladstone, passed away Friday evening July 27, 2012, at home following a lengthy illness.

Jose was born June 13, 1951, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, the son of Jose and Flora (Rivera) Rosado.

He was raised in Puerto Rico until the age of 13 when he moved to Chicago. Jose was a self-employed painter for many years in Bloomington, Ill., and Gladstone.

Jose was united in marriage to Kathryn (Marks) on Feb. 2, 1980, in Maywood, Ill. They resided in Bloomington, Ill., until they moved to their current location in Gladstone in 2003. Jose loved to work, paint and spend time with his family. His hobbies included playing pool, camping and going to the casino.

In addition to his wife Kathryn, survivors include: mother, Flora Rivera of Hato Rey, Puerto Rico; daughter, Akima Rosado at home; stepsons, Robert of Perkins, James of Wilson, and David of Escanaba; stepdaughter, Roberta Welch of Bloomington, Ill.; brother, Elifa (Anna) Rosado of Rio Grande, Puerto Rico; sisters, Ada (Luis) Rosado Santiago, Carmen (Miguel) Rosado Deyesus, and Maria (Luis) Rosado Lopez, all of Puerto Rico; 19 grandchildren, 16 grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

In addition to his father, Jose was preceded in death by his stepson, Michael Joslin in 2006, stepdaughter, Laurie Farmer in 1989, stepson-in-law, Eddie Welch in 2009, and his nephew, Elifa Jr.

Jose's family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 31, from 3 to 4 p.m. at the Grace Church in Gladstone. Funeral services celebrating the life Jose R. Rosado will follow at 4 p.m. at the Grace Church with Rev. Dr. Steve Patrick officiating. Luncheon will follow in Grace Church Fellowship Hall.
