Lillian E. Stoneclift

ESCANABA - Lillian E. Stoneclift, 89, of 3610 8th Ave. S., Escanaba, passed away Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at the Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba where she was a patient for the past four days.

Lillian was born Feb. 2, 1923, in Hibbing, Minn., the daughter of Einar and Anna (Beseth) Stendahl. She lived in Norway as a very little girl. She was raised in Escanaba where she was a 1941 graduate of Escanaba High School. Following graduation, Lillian worked in Ludington, Mich., as a bookkeeper for the Ludington News newspaper. During World War II she was an inspector in an airplane factory in Lower Michigan.

In October of 1944, Lillian was united in marriage to Clarence Stoneclift. They made their home in Danforth where they owned and operated the Stoneclift Dairy Farm from 1944 to 1958.

Lillian was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Her hobbies included line dancing, walking, reading, and watching the news and educational television shows. She loved going to California and Vegas to visit with her niece Linda. Lillian especially enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters, Darlene "Sue" (Tim) Pach of Escanaba and Ann Schafer of Sheboygan, Wis.; grandchildren, Amanda (Tony) Spreitzer of Rapid River, Darlene (Tracy) Andrus of Deltona, Fla., Tim Pach of Boise, Idaho, and Dawn Ware of Sanford, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Shawn Ware and Allison Spreitzer; and many special nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clarence in 1973; brothers, Gilbert and Harold; and sons-in-law, Raymond Delvaux and Doug Schafer.

Lillian's family will receive friends on Monday, July 30, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home in Escanaba. Funeral services celebrating the life of Lillian E. Stoneclift will follow at 5:30 p.m. at the Skradski Family Funeral Home with Rev. Chris Johnson of Christ The King Lutheran Church officiating. Luncheon will follow at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Escanaba.

Burial will be in the Lakeview Cemetery in Escanaba.

The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Escanaba and Gladstone are assisting the Stoneclift family.
