Former teacher backs candidate

EDITOR:

First, let me introduce myself. My name is Jean A. Schmidt. I am a retired elementary teacher of first, second, and fourth grades at James T. Jones Elementary School in Gladstone. I taught for 32 and one half years.

Richard Micheau, known as Rick, was a student in my second grade class in 1973. He was a polite, rather shy but determined and very efficient young boy who excelled in math. As I told his mother, Bea, he was the kind of student that teachers enjoy having in school.

Rick paid the bills and balanced the books at "Shelli's Deli" owned by his parents, Richard and Bea Micheau, for eight years. The combination store/deli was well-respected in the area.

He currently attends Bay College, (consistently on the dean's list for exceptional grades), works as a lead tax preparer at Liberty Tax Service, owns and operates a catering service called S&R Banquet Services, does errands and shopping each week for me and helps others that are homebound or disabled, and still has time to be a caring father for his two children, Jay and Hannah.

I personally believe that Rick Micheau is the perfect candidate for Delta County treasurer as he is honest, unflappable and very efficient.

As a former teacher, it "warms the cockles of my heart" to see my former student, Rick, achieving his immediate goals and yet still striving for more.

Delta County could use a "treasure" as Rick Micheau for their treasurer. Pick Rick 2012
