Gendrons married 40 years ago

GLADSTONE - John F. Gendron and the former Mary L. Godin are celebrating 40 years of marriage. The couple were united in Holy Matrimony on July 22, 1972, during a ceremony held at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Escanaba.

John is retired from NewPage. Prior to that, he served in the U.S. Army and later owned and operated Gendron's Barber Shop in Gladstone.

Mary is retired from the Cameron Elementary School in Gladstone where she worked as a school secretary.

The Gladstone couple is enjoying their retirement by golfing and spending time with family and friends.

John and Mary are the parents of four children; Chris (Amy) Gendron of Negaunee, Cindi (Scott) Shepeck of Escanaba, Greg (Bre) Gendron of Gladstone, and Vicki (Donny) Caron of Escanaba.

They also have six grandchildren, Amanda Shepeck, Daniel (Andrea) Shepeck, Bailey Shepeck, Maddie Gendron, Matthew Caron, Leo Gendron; and one great-grandchild, Elsie Shepeck.
