GLADSTONE - Richard McKnight and the former Marilyn Bergeon were married 60 years ago on July 12, 1952, at St. Mels Catholic Church in Chicago. Standing with the couple were: Lorraine St. John, sister of the bride; Robert Bruce, brother-in-law of the bride; and Clara and Harold Moser, sister and brother-in-law of the groom.
Richard is retired but was employed at Harnischfeger for 13 years. He was also self-employed as owner of M&B Auto, Rampart Ambulance, and McKnight Transportation. He is a member of All Saints Church in Gladstone. Richard loves fishing and shrimping in Florida, and spending time at hunting camp with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marilyn worked for Bell Telephone and was a driver for McKnight Transportation. She was also a homemaker, lovingly raising her family. Her hobbies include crocheting, doing crafts, and cooking and baking for her family.

The couple are the parents of seven children: Dave (Bridgette) McKnight of Titusville, Fla.; Darryl (Jill) McKnight and Dean (Diana) McKnight, both of Gladstone; Dale (Kathy) McKnight of Stonington; Jeff (Susan) McKnight of Columbus, Ohio; Lisa (Phil) Chase of Cocoa, Fla., and Rick (Lori) McKnight of Savannah, Tenn. Another son, Doug, died as a young child.
The McKnights also have 18 grandchildren, five step-grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
The couple joined with their family for an anniversary celebration at the Four Seasons Resort in Pembine, Wis.
