As part of a Flag Day program in mid-June, members of Floriano-Stecker American Legion Post 340 of Hermansville conducted a Flag Retirement ceremony. Nearly 250 American Flags were burned with dignity. Taking part in the ceremony were: from left, Ron Zahn, James Wash, David Karban, Roger Schuette, Dennis Trudell, Joseph Bouchard, Gilbert Vandenhouten, and Ted Gurgall. Commander Wash emceed the brief program. Post 340 conducts this flag burning ceremony annually and the public is urged to dispose of their unserviceable flags at the former mailbox on the front porch of the Legion building.
