Two issues about choice

July 18, 2012

Bravo to the gentleman from Rapid River who wrote the article "Talking out of both sides of its mouth." Our Michigan legislature approved and the governor signed PA98 permitting motorcycle operators the freedom of choice regarding wearing protective head gear. Yes - they have the choice not to wear a helmet. Before doing that they should talk with an emergency room doctor or nurse and be told the lack of quality of life a head injury may have after an accident without wearing a helmet.

Now, someone has filed/proposed legislation to restrict a woman's right to have an abortion and thus take away a woman's right to choice, because it is that person's religious belief. Thus he imposes that on women. Maybe it's ok to restrict late term abortions, but at least since Roe vs. Wade, the criminal abortion practitioner is out of business. I'm an R.N. trained at Cook County Hospital in Chicago and witnessed first hand horribly butchered women at the hand of a criminal abortionist. Some of the women died. This is the United States of America! Women have the right to freedom of choice and not have someone else's religious or political views control them. Women have just as many rights as men in this country. At least until recently.
