Marohnics celebrate 60th anniversary

ESCANABA - Albert and Carol Marohnic celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on June 9 with a cookout with family members and friends at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, David and Laura Marohnic of Bark River.

Albert and the former Carol Leach were married June 9, 1952, in Gladstone. Attending the couple were Florence and Solo Honkenon, sister and brother-in-law of the groom.

Albert was employed with Wendrick Truss until he retired in 1992. He also worked for Frigo Cheese Factory in Carney and was a welder at Marinette Marine, Christy Ship Yard in Stergeon Bay, Wis., and Milwaukee Crane Co. His hobbies include fishing, auto repair, horse shoes, and playing cards with his family. He has been a Senior Companion for the past 15 years.

Carol was employed at St. Francis Hospital in Central Supply for several years. She retired from Bark River-Harris School in 2003 as a custodian. Her hobbies include playing cards with family and friends, Bingo, and senior luncheons at the Bark River Senior Center.

As a couple they are members of Salem Lutheran Church in Bark River.

The Marohnics are the parents of seven children: Albert Jr. (Nina) Marohnic and Bruce Marohnic of Escanaba; Diane Marohnic of Perronville; Nancy (Joe) Richer and Robert (Theresa) Marohnic of Schaffer; and David (Laura) Marohnic and James Marohnic of Bark River.

They have 20 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
