HERMANSVILLE - The IXL Historical Museum of Hermansville, is 30 years old this summer. In celebration of this event, the Board of Directors is hosting an open house birthday party on Saturday, July 21 from 12:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. (CDT). Cake and lemonade will be served as refreshments. The video: "The People and Their Legacy," a history of Hermansville, will be shown throughout the day. As a gift to the public, the admission fee to the museum will be waived for the day. Any free will donations will be accepted.

Established as a museum in 1982, the IXL Historical Museum is the home of the Wisconsin Land and Lumber Company estate and the IXL Flooring Company. The IXL office building was built in 1881 and 1882, and is registered as a National and State Historical Site. It contains four floors of artifacts from the Meyer/Earle estates as well as equipment and machinery used during the heyday of Hermansville's flooring era. Other historical buildings located on the museum grounds include: a carriage house, a company house, a produce warehouse, a train depot, a caboose and boxcar, and a pavilion with antique steam machinery used in the sawmills.

According to Jane Triest, President of the IXL Board of Directors, this event offers an excellent opportunity for everyone to take a step back in time and see the treasures of history stored in the IXL Historical Museum.
