ESCANABA - Re-Creating in the Great Outdoors, hosted by Bays de Noc Gobblers NWTF, Mix and Mingle Community Events, and the Delta County RICC, will take place Aug. 25 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the DNR Pocket Park, located inside the U.P. State Fairgrounds.
The cost for the event is $10 per person and includes a draw-string bag, lunch, and participation in the activities. Scholarships are available. Pre-registration is required for the event. Registration deadline is July 31.
Transportation from nursing homes and assisted living homes in the Escanaba and Gladstone area is available.
Activities for the event will include target practice and shooting sporting clays, fishing, handcycling, boat rides, geocaching, and golfing. Participation in every activity is not required. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Red Barn next to the Pocket Park. The menu includes marinated/BBQ beef and pork sandwiches, (KFC) cole slaw, baked beans, chips, soda and desserts.
Re-Creating in the Great Outdoors' mission is to provide an accessible outdoor opportunity for people with different abilities to participate through hands on demonstrations, education, and exposure to outdoor and adaptive equipment. Activities include fishing, archery or target practice, boating, handcycling, geocaching, golf, relaxation, and fun.
