GLADSTONE - Mrs. Freddie L. Ingebrigtsen, 61, of 6041 Days River 24.5 Road, Gladstone, Mich., passed away Friday afternoon, July 13, 2012, at home following a lengthy illness with cancer.
Freddie was born Nov. 4, 1950, in Racine, Wis., the daughter of Fredrick M. and Shirley M. (Kanyuh) Leighton. She was raised in Racine where she graduated in 1968 from Horlick High School. Following graduation, Freddie attended the Racine Beauty School.
Freddie was united in marriage to Dwayne Ingebrigtsen on Nov. 8, 1969, in Escanaba, Mich. They resided in Germany, Texas, Alaska and Alabama while Dwayne finished his military career. Following Dwayne's retirement from the military in 1990, they made their home in Gladstone.
Freddie was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins. Her hobbies included making pottery, and spinning and weaving crafts. She was an excellent cook and she cherished cooking with her granddaughters.
In addition to her husband Dwayne, survivors include: son, Dwayne J. "DJ" (Shana) Ingebrigtsen of Fairbanks, Alaska; daughter, Kylee L. Ingebrigtsen of Gwinn, Mich.; brothers, Randy Leighton of Sweden and John (Debbie) Leighton of Florence, Wis.; grandchildren, Ava, Emmy, Denali and Danaki; numerous nieces, nephews and several cousins.
Her parents preceded Freddie in death.
Freddie's family will receive friends on Monday, July 16, from 5 to 6 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Freddie L. Ingebrigtsen will follow at 6 p.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone with Rev. Jean R. Schmidt of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Perkins officiating.
Luncheon will follow in the First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall. Burial will take place on Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
