Support for treasurer candidate

July 11, 2012
Daily Press

EDITOR:

This letter is to announce my unqualified support of Tom Sabor for Delta County treasurer. I have known Tom for over 40 years as a student at Holy Name and Escanaba High Schools and then as business manager at Escanaba Schools. As a business manager, Tom managed a $20 million plus budget each year during a very difficult time of declining enrollment. There is no doubt that Tom's constant attention to detail kept the school in a sound financial position. I am impressed with Tom's knowledge of investment vehicles in trying to maximize the earning potential of the school funds. His knowledge of what he could invest in, and what he should not invest in, protected the school's funds.

Tom had an open door policy. Whenever there were issues dealing with finances, labor contracts, or just to talk, he made himself available for discussion. His skills for listening are an important asset to the residents of Delta County.

Tom has an extremely strong work ethic. It has been known in the school community that he would put in many long hours, especially during budget time of the year, trying to keep up with the legislative changes that occur every year with school finances and labor law.

I fully support his election to county treasurer. Tom is the ideal candidate for the position and I would urge the residents of Delta Count to vote for Tom Sabor.
