ESCANABA - Genevieve M. Giguere, 87, of Escanaba, passed away Friday, July 6, 2012, at Bishop Noa Home in Escanaba. She was born Feb. 14, 1925, in Norway, Mich., and was the daughter Joseph and Mary (VanReMorter) Rochon.

Gen grew up in Norway and graduated from Norway High School in 1943. After high school she worked at the Sanitarium in Powers, Mich., as an assistant dietitian and later worked in California during World War II in a military aircraft plant. The former Genevieve M. Rochon married Edward J. Giguere on Jan. 8, 1944, in San Luis, Obispo, Calif., and he preceded her in death on June 26, 2006. Genevieve and Edward had humble business beginnings. They ran a saw mill until a fire destroyed the mill and then they began Giguere Forest Products. Together they ran the business until they retired and sold it to their son Ed.

She was a member of St. Joseph and St. Patrick's Catholic Church and a member of the Escanaba Women's Club. Gen was a devoted wife to her husband (who was her soul mate), a fabulous mother, and she loved spending time with her family. She also enjoyed playing cards, golfing, painting, staying in touch with her family on the computer, but most of all dancing with her husband. She and her husband also enjoyed over 25 years wintering in Florida in the Port Richey area.
