GLADSTONE - The Gladstone Major Boys' Little League All-Stars (age 11-12) gained a berth in the District 10 tournament Sunday, posting an 8-0 victory over Tri-County in the area tourney.
Winning pitcher Marcus Madded struck out eight, walked one and allowed six hits in a contest delayed 75 minutes by a rainstorm in the sixth inning.
Tyler Barteld and Jacob Wachholtz had two hits each for Gladstone, which faces Norway Friday at 7 p.m. (EDT) in Kingsford.

Josh Kulik and Alek Santure had two hits apiece for Tri-County, which returns to Howes Family Field to face Escanaba in the area tourney finale today at 4. The winner heads to the district tournament at Norway for Friday's opener at 5.
Esky stayed alive by eliminating Munsing 14-11 in Sunday's opener.
Esky had just four hits, but took advantage of 10 walks, two hit batsmen and three errors.
Munising drew seven walks and collected six hits.
Gladstone opened with a 6-2 victory over Munising and Tri-County blanked Esky 6-0 on Saturday.
