ESCANABA - Running and walking events are scheduled in three area communities this month.
The Manistique Paper Chase five and 10-kilometer run/walk is set for July 14 at 9 a.m. Registration will take place from 7:30-8:30 at the Manistique Senior Center.
Races start at the Pearl Street entrance to the Senior Center and finish at the marina.
Entry fee is $12 through July 12, with Upper Peninsula Road Runners Club members receiving a $2 discount. Late entries cost $15. For more information contact Wilbur LaBar (341-2321) or Roger Pratt (341-5557).
The Field Stone 5-K trail run/walk takes place July 21 at 9 a.m. on the Beauchamp Cross Country Course in Flat Rock. Registration begins at 7:30.

The 11th Annual Escanaba Lighthouse run/walk is set for July 28 at 9 a.m. Registration starts at 7:30 at the Ludington Park bandshell.
Entry fee is $13 for U.P. Road Runners Club members and $15 for non-members through July 20. All late entries are $20.
Also included is a kids' 400-meter dash, which is free of charge. T-shirts, however, can be purchased for $10.
