ESCANABA - Marvin A. Lucas, 97, of Northwoods Assisted Living in Escanaba, passed away Monday, July 2, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born April 12, 1915, in Brampton and was the son of Sidney and Lillian (Lund) Lucas.
Marv served in World War II in the U.S. Navy from 1942 until 1945 and then re-enlisted in the U. S. Army from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1950. In 1950 he started Lucas Plumbing and Heating, owning and operating the business until his retirement in 1979. In 1979 he graduated from Escanaba High School. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Delta Lodge 195 A & A.M. (served as Past Master), Ahmed Temple Shrine in Marquette, Past Worthy Patron of R.C. Hathaway 49 O.E.S., member of Knights Templar and the Delta Shrine Club.
Marvin A. Lucas is survived by his sons, Roger Lucas of Santa Faye, N.M., Marvin (Marnie) Lucas Jr. of Seattle, Wash., Mike Lucas of Saline, Mich.; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren; sister, Greta (Jerry) Sinskey of St. Louis, Mo.; brother, Harry (Joan) Lucas of Iron Mountain; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Frank Lucas; daughter, Sue McDermott; brothers, Kenneth, John, Sam, Clark, Jim, Robert and Sidney Lucas; and sister, Evelyn Lucas.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 5, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba. Delta County Veteran's Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Masonic service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral services celebrating the life of Marvin A. Lucas will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Scott Harmon from the Central Methodist Church officiating.
Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
