CLEVELAND - Verna Mae Hardwick, 90, of Cleveland, formerly of Gladstone and Rapid River, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2012, at the Malachi House in Cleveland.
Verna was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Gladstone the daughter of Phillip and Clementine (Nault) Gagnon. She was raised in Gladstone and Nahma, prior to her marriage to Wilfred Hardwick in 1942.
Verna and Wilfred lived in many areas while Wilfred made a career in the U.S. Military. Wilfred preceded Verna in death in 1982. Verna was a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River. She loved spending time with her family and her hobbies included bowling and camping with her family.

Survivors include her son, Gerald (Mary) Hardwick of Gladstone; daughters, Darla (Donovan) Roush of Media, Pa. and Vernetta Wachsman of Cleveland; sister, Lois Clark of Gladstone; 11 Grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, and husband, Wilfred; Verna was preceded in death by her son, Clayton, in 1999 and five brothers, Fay, Phillip, Reynold, Arnold and Alvin.
Verna's family will receive friends on Thursday, July 5, 2012, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the St. Charles Catholic Church in Rapid River with Rev. Fr. Yacek Wtyklo officiating. Luncheon will follow in the St. Charles Parish Hall. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Fernwood Cemetery in Gladstone.
