EDITOR:
Recently in the Escanaba Press, Congressman Benishek made the remark that many people in the U.P don't have jobs because they don't want to work or don't have the necessary skills to get a job. Coming from a man who voted yes to a budget that cut education and Pell grant funding, I find this comment hypocritical and elitist. I personally know many people who spend the majority of their day looking for work at the Michigan Works offices or elsewhere, and come home empty handed every day. If Congressman Benishek truly is concerned about the people voting for him, he should put their concerns about employment first and make an effort to vote in the interest of his district not the millionaires padding his campaign's pockets.
