Flavian E. Bradley

RAPID RIVER - Flavian E. Bradley, 90, of Rapid River, currently living at Lakeview Assisted Living in Gladstone, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba. He was born March 21, 1922, in Heather Run, W.V., and was the son of John and Margaret (McKenzie) Bradley.

Flavian worked with the C.C.C.'s and served in the U.S. Army during World War II from March 31, 1943, until he was honorably discharged on Dec. 3, 1945. He married the former Lucille Moffit on June 12, 1948 in Ypsilanti, Mich. Flavian was employed as a finish carpenter all of his working years until his retirement. He and his wife moved to the Upper Peninsula in the 1970s. He was a member of the Carpenters Local Union 521 and Local 1832 and a member of the 535th Antiaircraft Artillery Association. He also held the patent for the "Dual Size Belt" that would increase or decrease the size of the belt.

Flavian E. Bradley is survived by: wife, Lucille; sisters, Clare King of Canton, Mich., Theresa Mayer of Belleville, Mich.; sister-in-law, Maureen Bradley of Belleville, Mich.; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Alleda Sheffer, and brother, Bertram Bradley.

Private family visitation was held Thursday, June 28, at the Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services celebrating the life of Flavian E. Bradley were held Thursday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Bill Cuthbertson officiating. Burial will take place in Michigan Memorial Cemetery in Flat Rock, Mich.
