BERGLAND TOWNSHIP - A 73-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a deer while riding in Ontonagon County on Monday, said Michigan State Police from the Wakefield Post.
Charles Matthew Evans of Marenisco was traveling west on M-28 near Sandy Beach Road in Bergland Township when he struck a deer in the roadway. Evans was thrown from the bike. He was not wearing a helmet when the crash occurred.
Evans received head injuries and was transported by ambulance to Grand View Aspirus Hospital then transferred by helicopter to Wausau Hospital in Wisconsin where he was pronounced dead, said troopers.
The Ontonagon County Sheriff Department and Bergland Fire Department assisted state police at the scene.
