Visitors toured a local log cabin Sunday in conjunction with Log Cabin Day, celebrated statewide on the last Sunday in June.

Dorine Chase, of downstate Pleasant Ridge, stands next to her great-grandparent’s log cabin along U.S. 41, north of Rapid River, on Sunday. The 20-by-30-foot two-room structure was built in the late 1870s as the home of Henry and Caroline (Schramm) Wnuck. The homestead was registered as a Michigan Historic Site in 2001.
