POWERS - Patricia "Patty" Ann Charles, 58, Powers, was taken by angels as her loving family and friends were by her bed side after battling with cancer on Saturday, June 23, 2012. She was born on Oct. 20, 1953, in Marinette, Wis., the daughter of the late Robert and Maureen (Shannon) Smith. On June 28, 1975, she married the late James Charles at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding and together raised their two sons: Nicholas and Michael.
Patty was raised in Powers and graduated in 1972 from North Central High School. Throughout her life she worked for Claire Bedding in Hermansville, Powers Printing and most recently at Pinecrest Medical Care Facility. She was a member of St. John Neumann Church in Spalding.
Patty enjoyed her yard and flowers, going to camp, four-wheeling, movies, going to the casino and just hanging out with her family and friends.

She also enjoyed sports, and was named "sports fan of the year" in 2012 at North Central Schools. She had an abundance of friends and was known as "Paper Patty", "Peppermint Patty", "T.T." and also as "Aunt T." to everyone in town.
She is survived by her two sons, Nicholas (Michelle) Charles and Michael (Ashley) Charles; four sisters, Barbara (Harry) Westrich, Cindy (Russell) Whitens, Debbie (Steve) Baird and Jackie Smith; three brothers, David (Penny) Smith, Thomas (Nancy) Smith and Richard (Darlene) Smith; four sisters-in-law, Rita (Vern) Johnson, Betty Draze, Janice (Robert) Ramels and Lois (Bruce) Ball, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Patty was preceded in death by her loving husband in 1998 and her parents.
Patty's family will receive friends from 1 to 5 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday, June 26, at St. John Neumann Church in Spalding with the St. Anne's Rosary at 4 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 5 p.m. (CST) on Tuesday at the church with Fr. Michael Vichich officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Spalding Township Cemetery following Mass. A luncheon will be held in the church parish hall.
