Luvicy M. Spaulding

GARDEN - Luvicy M. Spaulding, 87, of 16th Road, Garden died on June 21, 2012, at the Tendercare Health Care Center in Munising.

She was born Sept. 18, 1924, the daughter of Hullie and Katherine (Thill) Dalgord, on her parents farm in Fayette. She attended school in Fayette and was a graduate of Garden High School. She was a lifetime resident of the area.

On Sept. 14, 1946, the former Luvicy Dalgord married Leonard Spaulding in Garden, and they made their home and raised their family on the Spaulding farm in Garden. Leonard preceded her in death on March 19, 1997.

Luvicy was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden, St. John's Altar Society and St. Isadore's Circle. She was also a member of the Garden 4-H Club, the Bay de Noc Beef Producers Association, the Farm Bureau of the Garden peninsula, the Kates Bay Home Extension, the Kates Bay Grange, the TOPS Club of the Peninsula, the Garden Peninsula Historical Society and Museum in Garden, and the Delta County Soil Conservation District. She also had served with the Mud Lake P.T.A.

Luvicy is survived by her sons, Alan Spaulding of Garden, Bruce (Annette) Spaulding of Cooks and Kim (Kim Fisk) Spaulding of Garden; daughters, Cherry Walton of Olympia, Wash. and Kathy (Jan Moe) Spaulding of Olympia, Wash.; grandchildren, Sherry Lynn (Bob) Mayers, Patty Schwardt, Jeff (Lisa) Pitcock, Chad (Melissa) Pitcock, Angie (James) Buttermore, Bruce (Ginger) Spaulding, Jr., Bryan Spaulding, Wendy (Travis) Veraghen; 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Estella Oberg of Manistique; sister-in-law, Nancy Dalgord of Fayette; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Andy; her sister, Evelyn Dalgord; and her brothers, Allen, Roy and Harley Dalgord.

Visitation will be held from 10 a.m.-11 a.m., Monday, June 25, 2012, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Garden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., at the church, with Father James Roetzer officiating. Burial will follow in the New Garden Cemetery at Garden Township.
