MANISTIQUE - A motorcyclist remains in critical condition at Marquette General Hospital, where she is being treated for injuries received in a two-cycle accident earlier this week in Manistique, according to Michigan State Police from the Manistique Detachment.

Margerite Webster, 54, of Glencoe, Ky., was thrown from her motorcycle after she drove into the back of a motorcycle driven by a 65-year-old Ohio man. Both motorcyclists were traveling with a group of friends when the accident occurred on U.S. 2 in Manistique Township at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday, said troopers.

The Ohio man sought treatment at Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital and was released. Webster was transported by ambulance to the local hospital and then transferred to Marquette General Hospital where she was listed in critical condition this morning.

Neither driver was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred. Speed or alcohol were not factors in the crash which continues to be investigated, said police.

Anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed the accident, is asked to notify state police at (906) 643-7582.
