MANISTIQUE - A Kentucky woman was listed in critical condition at Marquette General Hospital today after she suffered head injuries in a motorcycle crash in Schoolcraft County Wednesday morning.

Margerite Webster, 54, of Glencoe, Ky. was riding west along U.S. 2 east of Manistique when she crashed into the back of another cycle driven by a 65-year-old Ohio resident, according to Michigan State Police troopers from the St. Ignace post.

Both cyclists were riding in a group and knew each other. The crash caused both drivers to lose control of their motorcycles. Troopers said Webster was thrown from her motorcycle. Neither of the riders was wearing a helmet.

Webster was initially taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital in Manistique by personnel from Manistique Public Safety. She was later transferred to Marquette General.

Troopers said the accident was reported at 10:35 a.m. Wednesday. State police were assisted by Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers, Sault Ste. Tribe of Chippewa Indians Police, the Schoolcraft County Road Commission and the Schoolcraft County Sheriff's Department.
