scholarships awarded
MARINETTE, Wis. - The 2012-13 scholarship recipients were announced at the annual spring awards banquet for UW-Marinette held at Little River Country Club on May 4.
Assistant Campus Dean for Student Services Cindy Bailey presented the campus scholarships which are administered by the UW-Marinette Foundation except for the Jeffrey L. Davis Scholarship, the Mary & Hugh Higley Student Scholarship, The Mary L. Staudenmaier Community Service Scholarship and the Sara Murray Lambrecht Scholarship which are administered by the M&M Area Community Foundation.
Bailey noted that, through the efforts of the UW-Marinette Foundation fundraising campaign in the fall, $42,000 was distributed in scholarships this year.
Students from Menominee received the following scholarships: Tyler Boye - The Karl Schmidt Unisia Family Scholarship; Laurie Gardiner - The William & Marilyn Swanson Menominee County Scholarship; Whitney Hutala - The UW-Marinette Foundation Board Community Leadership Scholarship; Derek Jepson- The William & Marilyn Swanson Menominee County Scholarship;
Holly LaPerriere - The Tyco Scholarship; Elijah Mojyczk- The William & Marilyn Swanson Menominee County Scholarship; Nomale Thoney - The Morrison "Jump Start" Scholarship; Jennifer Voelker - The Mary & Hugh Higley Student Scholarship.

HANCOCK - Two local students are among the 68 members of the Finlandia University Graduating Class of 2012. The students are:
BRAMPTON - David A. Hendrickson, bachelor's degree, Liberal Studies (Christian Vocation/Design);
ESCANABA - Jennifer Christine Butryn, bachelor's degree, nursing.
