ESCANABA - The U.P. Labor-Management Council, Inc. has awarded its first $500 Gerry Kendziorski Scholarship to high school senior Cassandra "Cassie" McKeever of Escanaba. Cassie attended Escanaba High School and was enrolled in the Delta-Schoolcraft Intermediate School District in the Business Management/Medical Transcription class, and the Careers in Education class. Cassandra plans to become a middle school teacher.

Any high school senior who has participated in a High School Collective Bargaining Workshop is eligible to apply for this scholarship. Under the program the scholarship will be awarded annually to the winner selected from the applicants who meet eligibility requirements.

Annually, one $500 scholarship will be awarded for the fall semester to the student attending any college or technical institution of their choice. This is an endowment scholarship fund agreement between the Community Foundation of the Upper Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula Labor Management Council.
