The following Delta Bay Area Girl Scouts received the Presidential Volunteer Service Award for the year 2011: Bronze - Alexandria Viau, Alisha Hirn, Lauren Mac Farlane and Debra Hirn; Silver - Kim Zar; and Gold - Jessie Dementer, Kelsey Fournier, Laurel Zar, Mariah Kestila and Victoria Dementer. The award is issued by the Points of Light Institute on behalf of the President of the United States and is presented by the Corporation for National Community Service in recognition and appreciation of commitment to strengthening the nation and for making a difference through volunteer service. The amount of volunteer service hours determines whether the award is bronze, silver, or gold.
