Traffic light needed on Lincoln Road

May 16, 2012
Daily Press

EDITOR:

I am writing to you about my concern, and that of many others that live near me, about the unsafe crossing at 8th Street and Lincoln Road.

Residents that live in this area have a difficult time crossing the highway safely to shop at "The Store," attend church at St. Anne's, and walk to Lemmer School.

People in this area that do not have cars, walk to these places and need to do so safely.

There have been some people I know of that have been hit by cars while crossing.

Bellin Health Center and Marquette General Health Center located in the same area will cause more traffic making it even more difficult in crossing safely, especially for those persons with disabilities. We are asking that our community encourage MDOT and the city of Escanaba to install a traffic light at 8th Street and Lincoln Road to ensure safe crossing for the residents that live in that area.

Thank you for all your support.
