Gladstone couple celebrates golden wedding anniversary

GLADSTONE - Charlie George and the former Geri Johnson were united in Holy Matrimony 50 years ago on May 12, 1962, during a ceremony that took place at First Lutheran Church in Gladstone.

Attending the couple were: Charlyn (Hoffes) Anderson, friend of the bride; Gaylord Harvy, friend of the groom; Nolan and Barbara Johnson, brother and sister-in-law of the bride; and Joe and Helen Belongie, aunt and uncle of the bride.

A reception in honor of the couple was held at Marco's Starlite Room in Escanaba.

Charlie is retired from Mead Corp. His wife was employed at Skradski Family Funeral Homes.

Both Charlie and Geri are members of First Lutheran Church where Charlie serves on the Property Committee and the church choir, and Geri is head of the Serving Group, Altar Guild and is also a member of the Church Council. They are also members of the Gladstone Golf Club and Gladstone Yacht Club.

The Georges are the parents of two children, Kelly (Dave) Hartner of Beaverton, Mich., and Jeff (Tammy) George of Gladstone.

The couple also has four grandchildren.
