ESCANABA - Two Escanaba men were charged in connection with a break-in at a Masonville Township camp. They allegedly tried to strike two people who witnessed them leaving the scene Sunday afternoon.
Robert Westerlund, 22, was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (felonious assault), larceny in a building, and breaking and entering. Zachary Delaney, 21, was charged with larceny in a building and breaking and entering.
According to two witnesses on ATV's, one of the suspects rammed an ATV with his truck and the rider jumped to safety. The other ATV operator backed up behind a tree to avoid being struck by the other suspect's truck, said Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post who recovered several stolen items.
Westerlund and Delaney remain lodged in Delta County Jail in lieu of a $5,000 bond and 10 percent of a $5,000 bond, respectively.
