CORNELL - Rosemarie Regina "Ro" Solis, 80, of 8262 Co 426 L Road, Cornell, met our Lord and Savior to receive her well-deserved angel wings Saturday morning, March 24, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Escanaba, surrounded by her loving family.
Rosemarie was born May 17, 1931, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of Alexander and Charlotte (Patelski) Devience. She was raised in Chicago where she was a 1949 graduate of Leyden East High School. Following graduation, Rosemarie worked as a secretary in the Chicago area (Franklin Park).
Rosemarie was united in marriage on April 11, 1953, in Chicago to Walter Solis of Cornell, Mich. They established their home in Cornell, where they raised their five daughters and operated the family beef farm affectionately named "Walter Solis & Daughters".

Rosemarie was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Flat Rock and volunteered as a member of the Flat Rock Elementary School P.T.C, and was also involved in many other functions at the school. Her many hobbies included Rosemaling painting, and working with stained glass. She loved working in, and was very proud of her vegetable and flower gardens. She was an avid sewer, award winning quilter, and also enjoyed home canning and baking in her kitchen.
Family was important to Rosemarie and she greatly enjoyed having the entire extended family gather at the farm for holidays and special occasions.
The Solis farm was the epicenter of family social events. There was always coffee on the stove and fresh baked goodies for all, and everyone was welcome.
In addition to her devoted husband Walter of 58 years, other survivors include: daughters, Linda Winling of Rapid River, Terri (David) Meyette of Cornell, Diane (Barry) Danhoff of Gladstone, Patti (Jim) Powell of Gladstone, Jane (Jeff) Bolm of Manistique; beloved brother, Alexander (Arlene) Devience of Park Ridge, Ill.;
loving sister, Elizabeth Kline of Lake In The Hills, Ill.; grandchildren, Christopher (Jill) Winling, Toni (Cory) Schram, Tammy (Tom) Helman, Samantha (Charles) Berube, Joshua (Kathryn) Meyette, Casey, Amanda and Elliot Danhoff, Quinn and Connor Powell, Tyler and Travis Bolm; great-grandchildren, Andrew and Regan Winling, Veronica, McKenzi and Brady Schram, Jared Johnson-Helman, Abbigale and Cooper Helman, Alexis, Sasha, Dusten and Laela Berube and future great-grandbaby Meyette; nieces and nephews, Charles (Susanna) Kline, Jay (Renee) Hageli, Mark (Shannon) Hageli, Rachel and Alex Hageli.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Charles Devience; sister, Patricia Hageli; niece and nephew, Lana and Scott Devience; grandson, Anthony Meyette; and brother-in-law, Stanley Kline preceded Rosemarie in death.
Rosemarie's family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Holy Family Church in Flat Rock. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 5 p.m. with Rev. Fr. Jose Maramattam officiating. Luncheon will follow in Fr. Matt Hall at Holy Family Church. Burial will be in the Escanaba Township Cemetery.
