ESCANABA - Leonard Boudreau and the former Evonne Voigt were united in Holy Matrimony 50 years ago on Sept. 2, 1961, in Escanaba. Standing in for the couple were Julie Thompson, friend of the bride, and Orville "Mickey" Olsen, a friend of the groom.
Leonard retired from working at the Daily Press in 1996. He enjoys spending his time woodworking, bowling, playing horseshoes, walking and bike riding.
Evonne retired in 2006. Her hobbies include knitting, crocheting, and quilting.

In celebration of their anniversary, the couple renewed their wedding vows on July 16, 2011, at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hyde, with their four children as witnesses. A reception in their honor was hosted by their children in the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Wally Sliva. Attending were their children, grandchildren, relatives, neighbors and friends.
In addition to their daughter, Pam, the Boudreaus are the parents of two sons, Ronald Boudreau of Big Lake, Wis., and Gerald "Jerry" Boudreau of Appleton, Wis., and daughter, Sheri (Roy) Sanborn of Grand Haven.
They also have eight grandchildren.
