Bay Foundation thanks community

February 11, 2012
Daily Press

This week's bouquets go to:

From Shannon Dutkavich, Bay College Foundation Campaign co-chair:

The Bay College Foundation would like to extend an enormous thank you to everyone in the community for their generous gifts throughout the year and during the college's year-end campaign. This year's annual campaign "Give Us a Shot" focused on developing new simulation centers for nursing and healthcare education, as well as support for student scholarships. Each gift makes an impact - changing lives everyday and advancing the landscape of our communities through education and enrichment. Over 300 scholarships totaling over $300,000 were awarded to students via the Foundation for the 2011-12 academic year. Without such support, many students would not be able to afford college. Additionally, Bay College's impact would not be where it is today without private support from local businesses, clubs, organizations, foundations, families and community members. Again, thank you supporters from the students, faculty, staff, trustees and Foundation Board at Bay College - your support is greatly appreciated.

From The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight:

"The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight would like to send a huge bouquet of thanks to all the performers that made our USO "Stars of Glory" an overwhelming success. Not only we were able to raise funds for our next flight this spring, but everyone was entertained by a variety of performers. The mini-reunion by the BrightSpots was phenomenal. Our area is blessed to have so many giving and talented people. Also, a big bouquet of thanks to those who supported our cause and came to the "Stars of Glory."

Each Saturday the Daily Press salutes individuals and groups from our area who have had a very positive impact on the way we live.

We identify our bouquet recipients in one of two ways: from Daily Press news pages and from nominations sent in by our readers.

Mail us a postcard or letter identifying your nomination and putting into detail what they've done. Include your name, address, and phone number. Send nominations to Saturday Bouquets, The Daily Press, 600 Ludington Street, Escanaba, MI 49829.

They may also be sent to us by going to our Web site,, and clicking on the submit news button. Once there, click on "Bouquets" and follow the simple instructions.
