GLADSTONE - A 20-year-old Bark River man, arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female juvenile, remains lodged in jail today in lieu of a $25,000 cash bond.
Alec Jeffery VanEnkevort was arrested on Wednesday following investigation into the report of a girl being sexually assaulted, according to Michigan State Police from the Gladstone Post. Officials from OSF St. Francis Hospital informed troopers of the victim's alleged assault.
After interviewing the girl at the hospital on Tuesday, police located the suspect and evidence. VanEnkevort was arrested and officially charged with third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year felony.
Troopers were assisted in the investigation by the Delta County Sheriff Department and Escanaba Public Safety.
