Walter A. ‘Skip’ Anderson

ROCK - Walter A. "Skip" Anderson, 71, of Rock, passed away Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, at the St. Francis Hospital, in Escanaba, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Skip was born Dec. 29, 1940, in Chicago, the son of Albin and Pearl (Balenger) Anderson. He was a wonderful Dad, brother, uncle and grandpa, but was best known for the love and care he showed to his wife of 46 years, an example that many would try to emulate. He was also known for his sense of humor and enjoyed making his great-grandchildren laugh with the "tickle bug." He was also very skilled at rocking the grandchildren to sleep with "Bye Baby Bunting." He enjoyed singing and hosting karaoke parties, where everyone was a star. Many have experienced his loving spirit and hospitality and he will be missed by all who knew him.

Skip is survived by his loving wife, Rose (LaChance) Anderson; sons, Ken Anderson of Wis., John Anderson of Oshkosh, Wis., Donald (Katie) Anderson of Fla.; honorary son, Hal (Chris) Davis of Wells; daughter, Pam Pemberton of Rapid River; brother, Ben (Sandy) Anderson of Rapid River; sisters, Darlene (Cliff) Jensen of Escanaba, Sharon Anderson of Rapid River, Theresa Anderson of Rapid River. Also listed among the surviving family are 21 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Albin and Pearl.

The Anderson family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military honors will follow visitation, at 4 p.m. on Sunday, at the Skradski Funeral Home, by the Gladstone American Legion August Mattson Post 71. Funeral services to celebrate the life of Walter A. "Skip" Anderson will follow military rites with Pastor John Hendry, of the Living Faith Fellowship Church in Gwinn, officiating.

Skip will be laid to rest in the Perkins Cemetery in the Spring.
