ESCANABA - William Beveridge and the former Constance Hart were united in holy matrimony 60 years ago on Dec. 1, 1951, at All Saints Church in Gladstone. Standing for the couple was Dolores Mariucci, sister of the bride; Joan Jacobsen, sister of the groom; Prentiss Beveridge, brother of the groom; and Robert Hart, brother of the bride.

An anniversary reception in honor of the couple was held in Escanaba during the month of October before they left for Arizona. On Dec. 1, the couple's six children surprised them by flying to Arizona to spend their anniversary with them.

William retired as captain of the Escanaba Public Safety Department on Sept. 1, 1993. Constance worked as a sales clerk at the Leader Store for 21 years, retiring in 1991. Both Connie and Bill are enjoying their retirement spending the winter months in Arizona.
