More than two dozen persons took part in a "Pack-A-Shoebox" party held at Grace Church in Gladstone on Sunday afternoon to prepare boxes to donate to Operation Christmas Child. The boxes, along with several million others from across the country, will be distributed to children in 140 third-world or war-torn countries around the world - some of which have never received a gift before. Taking part in the effort were: children from left front, Alexa Wetthuhn, Aleyna Wetthuhn, Brooke Anderson, Gavin Angsten, Keeley Angsten and Aleaha Lamberg. Middle row, Lisa Filbrandt, Becky Wenzel, Julie Hanson, Olivia Wetthuhn, Allie Wenzel, Talise Lawrence, Dawson Lambert, Dacota Lambert, Lydia Filbrandt, Lori Beck and Bobbi Lambert. In back are: Linda Shumard, Kaleia Lawrence, Carla Irving, Lou Weis, Elila Hale, Amber Wenzel, LuAnn Lindquist, Dave Beck, and Adam Lambert. A total of 154 boxes were packed during the party. Hundreds more are expected to be brought to Grace Church before the Sunday deadline. More than 800 shoe boxes were collected in Delta County and 5,000 from throughout the Upper Peninsula last year.
