Rampart Ambulance was dispatched to the municipal dock in Escanaba Thursday afternoon when police responded to a subject falling into the water. According to Escanaba Public Safety, a couple from Escanaba was walking a dog when the pet went into the bay and the woman jumped in after it. The husband called 9-1-1 for assistance. The woman was rescued safely but the dog could not swim and did not make it, said police.
