Don’t forget the Coast Guard

September 29, 2011
Daily Press

EDITOR:

I read with great pride the story of our veterans going to Washington to visit the war memorial. When I got to the end of the article,

I was dismayed that they (band) played four of the branches of the military and neglected the U.S. Coast Guard, who have served in every war this nation has been involved in - including Iran and Iraq.

Why do you think when you visit any cemetery in this great country, they have a marble memorial of all five branches etched in it.

Please be more thoughtful to men and women who served in the oldest sea-going branch of the military.
