BARK RIVER TOWNSHIP - Two drivers were injured in a two-vehicle accident on U.S. 2 & 41 in Bark River Township Tuesday evening, according to the Delta County Sheriff Department.
The accident occurred at 5:39 p.m., when a westbound Jeep rear-ended a pickup truck attempting to make a left turn into a private driveway, one-tenth of a mile west of M-69, explained Sheriff Gary Ballweg this morning. James Thomas Sankovitch, 21, of Bark River, was driving a 2006 Chevy pickup when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 1998 Jeep operated by Steven Paul Gurgall, 20, of Hermansville, said Ballweg.
Gurgall was transported by Rampart Ambulance to OSF, where he was treated for serious injuries. Sankovitch sought his own treatment for minor injuries at OSF. Gurgall was ticketed for failing to stop in an assured clear distance ahead, said Ballweg.
