Petersons married 60 years

GLADSTONE - Gordon and Jane Peterson of Gladstone celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family gathering at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Tom Goodman.

Gordon and the former Jane Tufnell were married June 2, 1951, during a ceremony held at the First Lutheran Church in Gladstone. Standing with the couple were Jane's sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Bud Englund.

Gordon was employed at the Buckeye Mill and later worked for 24 years for Harnischfeger until it closed. He later was an employee of Escan until his retirement.

Jane worked for five years at Apelgren's Appliance and later retired in 1991 after 30 years of employment as circulation manager for the Delta Reporter Newspaper in Gladstone.

In addition to their daughter, Jan, the Petersons are the parents of a second daughter, Peggy (Steve) Houle.

The couple has five grandchildren, Jodi Ray and Jason "Spike" Houle, and Casey, Chad and Sara Goodman. They also have seven great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
