Death of girl hit by vehicle ruled accidental

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (AP) — Authorities say the death of a 3-year-old girl who reportedly darted into a street in suburban Detroit has been ruled an accident.

The Macomb Daily of Mount Clemens reports ( ) the girl is identified as Adrianna Mallory of Pontiac. An autopsy determined that she died from blunt trauma to the head. The Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office says it was accidental.

Police say the girl was hit Saturday in Eastpointe as an adult she was with was getting something from another vehicle and briefly looked away.

The girl died at a hospital. Police have said that the driver, who stopped to try to help the girl after the crash, probably won't face charges.
