BARK RIVER - Joseph Lippens and the former Frances Joyce Martin were married 50 years ago on May 13, 1961, at Sacred Heart Church in Schaffer.
The couple marked the anniversary of their marriage with a celebratory Mass at St. Peter's Cathedral in Marquette and later hosted a dinner party at the Stonehouse with their children. To celebrate their anniversary, the couple vacationed on a Caribbean Cruise this past February.
Joseph was a 30-year employee of the Mead Paper Company.

The couple enjoy gardening, fishing, hunting, going to camp, and being with their grandchildren. They are also members of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in Bark River.
Joseph and Frances are the parents of six children, Tim (Sheila), Tammie (John), Brian (Tracey) of Escanaba, Todd (Jeannie) and Scott (Shelly) of Bark River and Lori (Jamie) of Fairbanks, Alaska.
They also have 14 grandchildren.
The couple resides in Bark River.
