Robert Louis ‘Bob’ Bullard

GLADSTONE - Robert Louis "Bob" Bullard, 67, of 1319 Minnesota Ave., Gladstone, passed away Monday morning July 11, 2011, in Escanaba following a short illness with Pancreatic Cancer.

Bob was born Dec. 26, 1943, in Evanston, Ill., the son of Louis Clinton and Mary Lou (Farrell) Bullard. He was raised in Evanston until the age of 10 when his family returned to Escanaba. Bob attended and graduated from Escanaba High School prior to serving his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Bob was united in marriage to the former Victoria "Vickie" Sovey on June 6, 1970, at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Escanaba. They made their home in Gladstone where they raised their three daughters. Bob had worked as the Finance and Insurance Manager for Riverside Auto Group for nine years. He later worked as the Sales Manager for 14 years at Hilltop R.V. in Escanaba. He retired from Hilltop in 2006.

Bob was a member of the Escanaba Purple Heart, Chapter No. 1976 and his hobbies included hunting at "The Farrell Camp" and fishing with his grandchildren. His family fondly remembers Bob's patience and desire to refinish furniture.

In addition to his wife of 41 years, Vickie, survivors include: daughters, Melissa (Jim) Egner of Gladstone, Rebecca Bullard of Gladstone, Mariah Bullard of Jonesboro, La.; brothers, Frank (Peggy) Bullard of Timberon, N.M., James Bullard of Iron Mountain, Nick Brown of Pulaski, Wis.; sister, Mary Pat (John) Gray of Weaverville, N.C.; six grandchildren, Taylar Egner, Robert Bullard, Kyle Egner, Ethan Shelafoe, Brode Smith and Logan Bullard; numerous brother and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, and nieces and nephews. His father, Louis and mother, Mary Peterson, preceded Bob in death.

Robert's family will receive friends on Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 3 to 6:45 p.m. at the Skradski Funeral Home in Gladstone. Military rites conducted by the Gladstone American Legion Post No. 71 will follow at 6:45 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert "Bob" Bullard will follow at 7 p.m. with Rev. Elizabeth Hill of the Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment will be in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells.
