Pepins celebrate 50 years of marriage

ESCANABA - Harland Pepin married the former Mary Ann Auspsetter 50 years ago on April 1, 1961, at St. Patrick's Church in Ferndale, Mich.

Standing as best man was Bob Sendenberg. Maid of honor was Shirley Underwood, sister of the bride, and bridesmaid was the bride's cousin, Kay Englund. Jim Yares served as usher and Gina Underwood was the flowergirl.

A party in honor of the couple was held in Gaden, Texas at the Golden Senior Center with 98 people in attendance. The Pepins enjoyed an anniversary cruise to Alaska the first week of June. They were accompanied by Larry and Cheryl Pepin.

Harland was employed as a methods analyst with Lucient Technologies, a division of AT&T, in Plymouth, Mich., before retiring in 1985. Mary Ann was a homemaker.

Harland enjoys hunting, performing on country opry shows in Kentucky and Texas, while Mary Ann enjoys gardening and oil and water color painting. Both enjoy playing and singing country music, as well as fishing.

The Pepins are the parents of two sons, Brian (Mary) Pepin of Escanaba and Robert (Annette) Pepin of Williamsburg, Va. They also have four grandchildren, Mike, Trinity, Skyla, and Gracie.
